October 6, 2014 Monday The Party Food

Fresh salad, deep fried asparagus, cheeses with walnuts& raisins, olives, carrots, onions, patatas fritas(omelette).

October 6, 2014 Monday Party at the San Francisco Bodega

Peggy Callahan & Lloyd Sutton hosted this very special celebration of friends of the Camino. She is a very gracious hostess & she told me she & Lloyd always entertains in their LA home.
I consider myself lucky to have met her as she had told me about the Filipino family from LA also walking the Camino.

October 6,2014 Monday On my way to the Party

Across from my hotel is the Sephora store. Well, how convenient is that to have free make up using all their samples. I just helped myself as the 2 employees were busy helping other clients.
This was the section where I got the rouge, lipstick, eyeliner & lip gloss.

Cathedral de Santiago de Compostela October 6, 2014 Monday

WOW! I still cannot believe I was able to take this very nice photo of St. James. I had to put my IPad out to the side so I could take His profile. Thanked God I have not dropped it whenever I try this trick.

Monday October 6, 2014 Santiago de Compostela

It is a very small world here in Santiago, it is raining today as I was walking towards the Cathedral. I met Luis ( I & Maria walked with all the way to Monte de Gozo) & his brother Eduardo from Brazil. He wanted a photo with the famous pilgrim on the Camino, me! He was impressed that I know a lot of the pilgrims names & country.

From the house of Judah comes Christ, and so our Josie

Josie's  spirit moved her to  undertake one of the longest pilgrimages on earth, and by so doing it ended in atonement with God.

It is in that spirit, that I for one, thank Josie for this  pilgrimage, for I know her prayers for all our sins will be heard.

This sense of pilgrimage stirs  Josie, from the roots of her being, as she comes from the  house of Judah:

which  brings light of why she is the way she is:

In Genesis, we learn  Tamar, Judah's daughter-in-law, gave birth to Judah's sons Perez and Zerah
Judah and his family, and such an account it is, that it seems a wonder that of all Jacob's sons, our Lord should spring out of Judah, Heb 7:14. But God will show that his choice is of grace and not of merit, and that Christ came into the world to save sinners.

Your prayers will be heard.

XO
Gabriela

That's my friend Josie all right
the  irrepressible, fun filed and courageous  friend I have
Imagine, she swam in the ice laden seas in Antartica ( and she doesn't even know how to swin!
She snorkeld/scuba in the Barrier Reef in Australia She still doesn't know how to swin!
She floated in the cold February dead sea, while I  was shivering with my clothes on , there , no need to swin, as one floats.
She climbed on a camel in Turkey ( I would never dare, it is plain scary)
In Rio, her sandal broke, but she was undaunted, she just kept on  walking.
I guess the reason we are good friends is because we don't take NO for an answer.
In Israel we found out her genetic  roots ( Perez) are Jewish. Now we know why she is so smart.
I am proud of all  your ventures Josie, and  now, I hope your next won't be to climb Mt Everest!! It will kill me!!!

Love  and kisses, we are all proud of you
Gabriela

> I cried as soon as I saw the spires of the Cathedral, well actually it was a different top.The spires/towers are under renovation/ maintenance. I walked 23 miles yesterday to get to Santiago in time for the 12:00 noon Pilgrim Mass. I met Maria from Switzerland& Luis from Brazil & we all decided to go on to be as close to Compostela. This was the biggest municipal Albergue in Monte de Gozo of all I have stayed in, 500 beds to accommodate the Summer influx of pilgrims as this is the last town before Santiago. The shell in front of the Cathedral marks the zero km. As I had promised St. James, I walked on my knees from the front door to the altar. I was crying the whole time I was saying the Rosary as I was so happy to finally finish the Camino. Actually the distance from St. Jean Pied de Port, France to Santiago is only 775 km. When I go to Finnestera & Muxia it will make 500km. I got my Certificate in Latin, I first told the volunteer that my name was spelled wrong, but she said it is in Latin, JOSEPHINAM.
> OK. Then she made a mistake in the certificate of distance walked & wrote down I started Sept.21,2014 & finished October 5,2014. There is no way I could have walked that fast. I had to go back & have it corrected to Sept. 4,2014 which is my Mother's birthday. All is well. This year is also the 800th year of St. Francis pilgrimage to Santiago. How lucky can I get, so I went to the San Francisco Church & got another certificate of St. Francis. On the way to Santiago My 3 young Colorado friends & I walked together & was so happy to be together when we got there. It was a celebration, CONGRATULATIONS from all the pilgrims I had met & walked along the way.
> It was such jubilation that you would think WOW, everyone hugging & kissing one another. Hans from Germany saw me & said now it is time for a picture together. We are like long lost friends so happy to see one another, specially me as they all know I walk very slow. But they are always surprised to see me, they say I am everywhere. It was nice to see the Filipino family & their friends. I am staying here for 2 days to rest & start Oct. 7 Tuesday for Finnestera. I will send pictures right away. BUEN Camino. Josie

WOW, JOSIE!  I'll never be able to do what you did.  Walking a block and that's it for me.  That was true grit and may I add you are really and truly blessed because the spirit moved you all the way.  I think the lady who did the certification made the mistake of distance walked by you because she was used to most (if not all) pilgrims as I've read just starting their pilgrimage from Burgos, Spain and not from where you started at St. Jean de Port, France.  That was a big, big accomplishment.

Good journey to Finnestera - THE END OF THE WORLD.

God bless you and take care!

*:) happy Prudentius of LogroƱo
