Sept. 25,2014 Thursday Rabanal del Camino

This man was playing the guitar as I approach the church.

Sept. 25,2014 Thursday on the way to Rabanal del Camino

The owner of this mochilas passed me & so I stopped to take a picture. Yes, that's a plastic chair he is carrying! It is amazing what I see on the Camino.

Sept.25,2014 Thursday Astorga to Rabanal del Camino

The Albergue in Astorga is big, has a basement where the kitchen & laundry facilities is located & 4 floors for the Pilgrims. The bathrooms are really nice which is always a plus. Bonus: nobody snored in my room so I really got a good sleep. At breakfast, I exploded a perfect medium soft boiled egg in the microwave. Darn it, not only did I loose my egg, I had to clean the microwave. So I decided to eat a cold boiled egg, bread with cheese, a banana, tea. I met my 1st twin sisters from Sweden, Sigrid & Clara.

Golden Girl's Camino - Santiago de Compostela

How time flies, Josie!  Pretty soon your "longest walk" will be over.  In two weeks?  You reminded me of my high school classmate Lydia who lives in Helsinki, walking with other pilgrims all the way to the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Poland.  How about comparing your pilgrimage experiences with internet pilgrim expert Francis Tapon ...?  Very interesting facts about the Camino.

Vaya con Dios!

Beautiful flowers for someone dear that did not quite make it to Santiago. I always make a sign of the cross as a respect. The letters are in Chinese characters, I think.

This was the 1st time I saw the hospitalero up early in the morning. Usually we all get up & leave
But I had a very nice conversation with Kent. He asked me to say Hello to Laura at the municipal Albergue at M.dl Mulas. I did when I checked in & she was happy to hear from Kent.

This was my municipal Albergue in Sahagun, an old church converted to an Albergue. This was the old walls & arches. There were 2 long dining tables. Quite an architecture & really very nice.

I passed this marker & it is a reminder of our mortality. We will never know when & where!

Today was the best day for walking as my feet felt very good & no aches. I think my blisters are all healed & I did not develop a new one! WOW... I also feel that my feet & legs are stronger & I am walking faster. Along the way I saw these bread being delivered, maybe door to door? I remember when I was young in the Philippines, our bread was delivered every morning. I loved it as it was still warm. The simple life.

The walk today was shorter, only 17 km, but it was hot & no shade. Anyhow, Sahagun is the geographical center of the Camino. It is a very important town at the time a Spanish Cluny. I am staying at the municipal Albergue de Cluny, an old church that was converted to house pilgrims. Very interesting old walls of the church.

The Virgen de Preregrina , beautiful & her clothes were weaves & decorated & sewn in Seville.
