Oct. 1,2014 From O Cebreiro to Triacastela a mere 13 miles

The morning was very cold but the day turned out so beautiful. I again decided to take the roadway as I find it easier to walk on paved asphalt instead of gravelly uneven trail. It was safe as there was not much cars on the road. This is L-633 probably a state road that only locals use it.

Sept. 30,2014 Monday O Cebreiro

This is Yo g from South Korea. I have met him before, he walks very fast & leaves very early in the morning. He says I am amazing because I just keep on walking ever so slowly but gets to where Everybody ends up at the end of the day. He is also very grateful for the Americans & Filipino soldiers during the Korean War. He likes the Filipinos. He invited me to dinner with the 3 girls to celebrate Emily's Birthday. We had grilled pulpo ( octopus) , they drank beer, I had water.

Sept. 30,2014From Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebteiro 18 miles

There were 2 routes to take; 1,the easy & shorter way was the roadway Nacional VI or the scenic way up & down through the trees, nature. I decide to take the shorter route though I walked by the road. It turned out to be a really safe way as there was a concrete divider between the road & the pilgrim's trail. The road is in the valley between the 2 mountains, I thoughtIwould only walk up to Vega de Valcarce butI got there at 12 noon too early ro stop.is topped there to have lunch & also bought peach & pear. I saw these chestnuts & wished it was already roasted just like in the Philippines, but it was raw.

Sept. 27, 2014 Saturday Ponferrada

The old Roman bridge, I stopped to have lunch by this area.

Sept. 27,2014 Saturday from El Acebo to Ponferrada

This trail is very difficult as you can see, we were walking on mountain stones so slippery, thank God it was not raining otherwise it would be so dangerous. That is Danielle from Canada wearing an aqua jacket who I first met on the Pyrenees.

Sept. 28,2014 Sunday from Ponferrada to Villafranca del Bierzo

White pumpkins instead of our orange pumpkins

Sept. 26,2014 Friday On the trail to Ec Acebo

This little abandoned town Manjarin except for this little bar has this sign for the distances from here to there. Only 222 km to Santiago de Compostela. WOW, I believe I can get there.

Sept.26,2014. Rabanal del Camino to El Acebo

I met Peggy from LA yesterday & she told me her husband Llyod who has a heart problem has to stay in a hospital in Burgos for 3 days. The Doctor told him he cannot walk like this every day. He rented a car, walks with her for a short distance, goes back to the car & meets her at their designated stop for the night. She was sad he could not walk with her but she's happy he can drive & continue with his Camino. I saw a red car stopped at Foncebadon & I knew it was her. So I was really happy to meet Lloyd Sutton. They are so sweet to each other. Because there is a cyclist marathon going on here, the albergues & hotels are full. Peggy had a reservation at the new La Casa del Peregrino in El Acebo. Her husband wanted to stay at a hotel so she saved one bed for me. When I got to El Acebo, I saw Michelin & Fernand from Quebec. She told me they are staying at the Albergue Parochial, a donation only & the hospitaleros are going to cook for the pilgrims. I liked the whole idea as it is something more quaint & intimate. So I checked in & went over to the Albergue to cancel.

Sept. 25,2014 Thursday on the way to Rabanal del Camino

Sept.25,2014 Thursday Astorga to Rabanal del Camino

The Albergue in Astorga is big, has a basement where the kitchen & laundry facilities is located & 4 floors for the Pilgrims. The bathrooms are really nice which is always a plus. Bonus: nobody snored in my room so I really got a good sleep. At breakfast, I exploded a perfect medium soft boiled egg in the microwave. Darn it, not only did I loose my egg, I had to clean the microwave. So I decided to eat a cold boiled egg, bread with cheese, a banana, tea. I met my 1st twin sisters from Sweden, Sigrid & Clara.
